“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will.”
Ephesians 1 vs 11
You are where you are now because of certain mistakes you made in the past. Just like I’m where I am now because of mistakes I made in my past. But isn’t it incredible to think that God makes our mistakes work out for good? That some of our mistakes are in line with his will?
During a telephone conversation with one of my older siblings a few days ago, he made a very powerful and succinct point.
‘Without mistakes and problems we cannot grow. It is the reason God allows us to make mistakes and experience challenges.’
In other words, rather than define us, our mistakes further enable us to become who we were created to be.
Unfortunately, more often than not, when we make mistakes, we tend to wallow in guilt and self-pity. The thing about guilt and self-pity is that neither are productive or have any value; precisely what the devil wants. The more we allow guilt and self-pity to hold sway, the more we remain stationary; unable to do anything except look back at our mistakes.
Where-ever you may be whilst reading this, and no matter what you did in the past, or what mistake you made, know this – God not only knew you would make that mistake before you were born, but it has already being made to work in line with his good and perfect will for you.
So, stop looking back, and move forward in the knowledge that everything is already working in line with your God’s good, loving, and perfect will.
